The value of jewelry on the pre-owned market is primarily determined by the brand and raw material, but not all name brands are anywhere near as valuable as when purchased new. From our personal opinion, customers made a good purchase when they lose at most three to four times the value of a new piece of jewelry and half if they bought it second-hand. In other words, if it cost 1.000€ new to recover between 250€ and 350€, it is considered a good purchase and if it was bought second-hand, recovering 500€ would be correct.
Why do we indicate these devaluations?
Because customers will only know if they made a good purchase when they want to sell it and not when they bought it, probably on many occasions they would not have bought it from the beginning. We could mention several brands that we would not recommend buying, as well as a few that we would, since they play with the prestige and the ignorance of their customers by not knowing exactly what they are buying. We have come to see cases of clients who paid 3.000€ for a new jewel and that its real value was 100€, leaving the gold buying and selling shops as scammers or profiteers. Of course, it is easier to admit that you avoided a deception in the present than that you were deceived in the past... The reality is that gold buying and selling trades generally move with very small margins and the difference in prices between one store and another can be around 20% in most cases, but not much more.
In our particular case, we have been fighting for more than 10 years to stay in the market with the best prices and conditions in the case of pawns so that we all win. Indeed, we try to buy jewels as jewels whenever possible, which is when they are most valued, and if not at least by weight of gold, at the maximum value that the price allows us. On the other hand, precious stones and high-end watches are also our specialty.
